When replacing clutch steel plates, inspect the clutch basket, hub and pressure plate for wear or grooving. Check old steel plates for signs of blue discolouration, glazing or warping caused by excessive heat. For optimum clutch feel and longevity, replace friction plates and clutch springs at the same time as the steel plates.
